Listen to John Schaefer’s WNYC Radio Show

It’s that time of the month again for the new releases show on New Sounds. John Schaefer carefully sorts through the stacks, bins, and boatloads of new CDs which have come across his desk over the past month to present some of the finest new releases. Expect some music for layered low-end strings like double-basses and cellos, from both Merakhaazan and Matt Haimovitz, along with new choral music by Eric Whitacre from his just-released “Light and Gold,” featuring three world première recordings. Plus, new music from the Bad Plus, and hopefully some new music from John Tavener as well.
