Crossover poster boy and McGill University prof, Matt Haimovitz will happily clamp a mike on his 1710 Gofriller cello and play it in clubs that don’t normally serve Brahms. His recent Figment tour included a stop at one of his favourite dives, the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield. On Saturday Haimovitz plays another joint, called Carnegie Hall, with the Iranian-Western Rumi Symphony Project, before touring Spain with the Berlin Chamber Orchestra. You can also hear him locally, at eXcentris on Nov. 29 at 4 p.m., in a string-trio performance of Bach’s Goldberg Variations.Call 514-790-1111 or see http://www.eXcentris.com
